Rage Against the Dying of the Light (Dylan Thomas)

Dylan Thomas, 1914 – 1953
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light!
(my interpretation/inspiration)
(Dedicated to all free men everywhere who have and will give their lives for freedom!)
The Light of Liberty in the hearts of brave men burning bright,
Pledging their Lives and with dying breath on they fight,
They’ll NOT go gentle into that good Night!
The Light of Freedom in the minds of wise men burning bright,
Pledging their Fortunes and with all spent, yielding nothing right,
They’ll NOT go gentle into that good Night!
The Light of Truth in the souls of free men burning bright,
Pledging their sacred Honor and with unwavering valor, battle on with all might,
They’ll NOT go gentle into that good Night!
The Light of Faith, Hope and Love of true Liberty lit long ago,
“One if by land, two if by sea,” flaring to a raging blaze of glory for all to show.
A way of life and death we see, all races, colors, and creeds, yearning to be free!
Fiery Light in the Forge of the Founders lit, illuminating
Our way of life and death, our struggle on up to glorious height,
Shattering Light destroying the Darkness within depths, bringing clarity of sight.
Up and out of the ash of chaos and destruction on rising currents of conflagration
Soaring upon the abomination and desolation of heights, Fire Bird seeing all sights
Rising Phoenix destroying past, living Now, preparing, bringing forth a new Nation
Think for yourselves, o courageous men of worth!
Forget not the beauty, freedom and peace of the Land of your birth!
Question the authority of the monsters who revel in their false superiority!
Question yourselves, o righteous men of worth!
Forget not the hope, honor, faith, love and Wonder of your birth!
Seek out Truth on every treacherous path leaving no stone unturned!
Love from the deepest depths of your hearts, o mighty men of worth!
Love sacrificing self for the Self!
Love giving all to all, holding nothing back!
Fear not the admission of your errors, o wise men of worth!
Remember with longing, yearning and striving the wondrous land of your birth!
For in the matrix of our imperfection patiently waits the precious gem of perfection!
Fear not the changes coming, o genius men of worth!
Transmutation of the lead of the dead into the Gold of the Bold!
Whom Fortune favors, Herculean labors we must perform ‘till we are cold!
Out of the despair of Darkness into the Liberty of Light!
Into dawn of a new Day we have traversed from the desperate Night!
All demons, doubters and cowardly enemies from the flaming sword take flight!
We have searched our depths true, eradicating all fear, leaving all that is right!
We have girded our loins, donned our armor, and sharpened our swords,
Now ready to strike with all our might!
We will rage and fight!
We will rage, rage!
We will Rage against the dying of the Light!
NEVER WILL WE GO GENTLE INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT!
